Molina de Aragón es una ciudad y municipio español de la provincia de Guadalajara perteneciente a la comunidad autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha. Además, es cabeza del partido judicial de su mismo nombre y también es la capital de la comarca del Señorío de Molina-Alto Tajo. Bajo el dominio andalusí, la ciudad perteneció al Califato de Córdoba, aunque posteriormente pudo constituirse en reino de taifa. Durante la Reconquista, fue tomada por el rey aragonés Alfonso I el Batallador en 1129. Sin embargo, la repoblación la hizo la Corona de Castilla, por estar situada al oeste del Sistema Ibérico. Se constituyó en Señorío independiente, a favor de Manrique de Lara, mediador entre ambas coronas en la disputa por el territorio molinés. A la muerte de la última Señora independiente, Blanca Alfonso de Molina, hija del infante Alfonso de Molina, el Señorío pasó a su hermana María de Molina, integrándose en la Corona de Castilla por su matrimonio con Sancho IV el Bravo. Posteriormente, y durante la guerra entre Castilla y Aragón de 1356-1369, la ciudad (hasta entonces conocida como Molina de los Caballeros, Molina de los Condes o simplemente, Villa de Molina) y su señorío pasaron a Aragón. De esta pertenencia proviene el nombre actual de la ciudad. Durante la Guerra de Independencia, el comportamiento de resistencia de los habitantes a las tropas napoleónicas, motivó que éstas, en represalia, incendiaran la villa. En reconocimiento, las Cortes le concedieron el título de "Muy Noble y Muy Leal Ciudad". Se puede destacar el Castillo-Alcázar, uno de los más grandes de España. También el Puente románico, llamado Puente Viejo. Hay varias iglesias importantes, como la del convento de San Francisco, coronada por el Giraldo, una veleta visible desde muchos puntos de la ciudad. Puente viejo sobre el río Gallo, Siglo XIII, en el fondo el Alcazar de Molina de Aragón. También la iglesia de Santa Clara o la iglesia de Santa María de San Gil, que cuenta con un destacable retablo. En su ruta turística encontramos también los restos de su muralla, el barrio moro y el barrio de la judería. En general el pueblo conserva buena parte de su patrimonio medieval con importantes restos arqueológicos en el denominado "Prao de los Judíos" . Molina de Aragón se encuentra muy cercana al Parque Natural del Alto Tajo, con especies mediterráneas de media y alta montaña, en óptimo estado de conservación y uno de los mayores conjuntos de cañones fluviales del interior peninsular.
